At first I thought this was a trait of this fish now I'm thinking other wise. His bottom lip is cut in half and it's growing algae. Anyone ever see anything like this ? It's a pair from DD. Been like this since I got him.

Just noticed the algae today it hasn't been there, it's almost like he was hooked and it split his lip it's kind of creepy looking it looks like fangs.

Nope. Never seen that before. I doubt the algae is growing on him. His lower lip is split and it's been like that since you got him? How long have you had him? Did you contact DD to let them know of this? It's not normal, just to confirm your suspicions.

He probably attempted to eat the algae, or something with algae on it and it got caught in the split of his lip. Now it's probably stuck there for a bit. I would give it some time and see if he can get rid of it on his own.

Melypr1985's likely right - more likely to be tangled in his teeth & jaw injury than it is to be actively growing there. It can't be helping, though ...

Here's a pic of my tank, not a spec of algae wouldn't know where he got it.
