I’m seeking advice on what may be causing the lesion over the eye. If parasites, I’m prepared to QT and treat. Just looking for suggestions as to what would cause this. She’s several years old and has always been very healthy. She lives in a 240 gal with several other fish.

Looks like a bacterial infection. Is the fish still eating well? Also did you add anything new to your tank recently?

Ive been hunting for this fish. Does it bother your coral?
Looks like a ruptured cyst. Treatment- Try either neomyacin OR melafix by A.P.I.

Keep a close eye on it. I'd have QT ready just in case but start with feeding one scoop of each med and add focus to a tbs of frozen food and let it settle for 30 min minimum. Feed it 2 x daily for 14 day period. Considered reef safe used in conjunction with focus as it binds the meds to the food.

Thank you very much. Following your treatment suggestion beginning today.

Update: been 11 days since treatment was started, seeing changes some good but now new issues. Eyes have white spots and numerous bumps on the nose, open sore seems to be getting smaller

Hi there. Sorry for delay.

It almost looks like lympho or some bacterial issue.

Is the fish still eating? Is the fish displaying any strange behavior such scratching, flashing, twitching, etc? What are your tank parameters? Are any of your other fish showing any of the same symptoms?

She's eating as usual, feeding flakes, freeze dried shrimp, frozen mysis with meds, and Nori daily, She's housed with a Queen Angel, (2) Heniochous Butterfly, Racoon Butterfly, Pakistani Butterfly, Foxface, (2) Powder brown Tangs, Flameback angel, Green wrasse and some Anthias and some clownfish. No flashing or unusual behavior has been observed by any of them. All others show no abnormal signs. All eat well. However, I did have a purple tang that died last week unexpectedly. Appeared to be in good health too.

I do weekly water changes so I dont check all parameters. However, I do check Ammonia, Nitrates, and Nitrites, They are consistently at zero. The salinity is 1.022-1.023. Temperature is typically 75 degrees F. I don't run a heater during the summer. It's a 240 gallon tank with a 65 gallon sump. Vertex alpha 200 skimmer. I run a 55 watt UV. I change the filter socks daily.
