Orange spotted filefish issue

Picked up this OSF from lfs and they said he ate frozen mysis shrimp and brine shrimp. First day I didnt have any luck seeing him actually eat anything. Saw alot of people talk about masstick so I bought some and tried it. He hasnt even gone near it. Anyone have tips on how to get him to try the masstick? Or any ideas on other foods? Tia.

These fish are hit and miss with feeding/eating
Live brine will be a best bet to get it started
When purchasing fish- ask to see it eat
You can try another feeding and set your cell phone on video mode for 30 minutes and WALK AWAY
Come back and review video and see if it attempted to feed in your absence as they tend to be bashful

Xsmall tdo pellets. Be careful of getting sucked in pumps as they aren't strong swimmers. I has a pair that were eating and seemingly doing well in a 20G long quarantine. The filter was a aquaclear50 and both ended up getting stuck against the suction of the filter resulting in internal damage and death.

They are coralvores and can be very difficult to feed, it is not uncommon for a lfs to be less than truthful, a move can also trigger a feeding reset. Get the least expensive coral twig you can find or smash some masstick into a coral skeleton. If you get a live twig, once he's finished you can smash masstick into the twig. Sometimes live brine shrimp can trigger a feeding response.

They are hit and miss. Had two pairs in the past. Knowing they were hard to feed I asked to see them feed first prior to buying. Mines ‘nibbled’ on NLS pellets and did gain weight and lived for 1+ year before a tank crash. Based on the picture you attached, yours is skinny. Keep them by themselves as they are slow feeders in slow flow and best of luck.
