has anyone had luck QTing a sand sifting goby I was going to add one to my qt which is of course bare bottom and I'm worried about him not eating with no sand to sift. Will these guys eat froze food or do they rely mostly on sifting through the sand?

They will eat frozen just like any other fish. However, I like to add a small glass dish of sand for them to sift through. They make a huge mess with it, but it seems to make them a bit more comfortable.

You can use a thin layer of dry sand in QT, just don't overdo it.

The main thing you need to do is build a very secure lid to prevent them from jumping out. Like this:

Put the mesh on the underside of the eggcrate, to prevent the goby from wedging himself in-between the top of the eggcrate and the bottom of the mesh.

Awesome thank you I was planning on adding a dish of sand but I buy all my fish through the mail and don't have the option of watching them eat before purchasing them.
