My orange spotted goby died. I have a 50 gallon reef tank. The parameters all seem good to me. I saw him swimming out of it’s hole this afternoon, I noted this as odd, that he shared with a pistol tiger shrimp. Any ideas?

The stomach has a dark spot suggesting possible edema in which the fish May have been feeding off its liver.
Hard to tell with a dead carcass but any symptoms that developed like loss of appetite, elevated breathing, unusual swim behavior or hiding?

Instant death always leads me to an attack, rather than disease.

You see a fish in the afternoon and a couple of hours later, dead…..

I thought I saw it eating when I feed the tank. Hiding is kind of what it did, my son did say he thought he saw less of it the other day, but I felt like I saw it poking out of a hole most times I looked at the tank. I have not noticed any heavy breathing. I did have a royal gramma die, of what was suspected to be uronema.

I guess it could be the clowns, but they never have shown aggression to anything. The only other fish in the tank is a mandarin.

Its close to opposite. This Fish like most show no signs of aggression

Likely I’m wrong.

But a heathy fish in a good waters like you posted, seems odd, very odd, and in a super short time frame.

It would not be the first attack by a clown.

We lost a goby last week, had a year, someone bit him on the stomach. Nasty.

Sorry for your loss.
