Orange Spotted Goby not eating, Metronidazole?

I have had him for about 5 months, but in the last few weeks it seems to have very little appetite, generally it eats one piece of mysis and then looks like he is choking or gaging and then shows little interest in food floating right past him. Other then being skinny, there are no other outside symptoms, good coloration and such.
I talked to my LFS today and they gave me some powder Metronidazole with the instruction to mix a pinch in with while the food is thawing.
I'm curious if this is a good idea? Is Metronidazole safe to use?

Yes, but you will need to use Seachem Focus to bind metro to the food and prevent it from leaching out. This extra step makes it reef safe.

The only challenge with using medicated foods is that you have to get the fish to eat it. With a fish that isn't interested in food, that can be difficult. Best to treat in a hospital tank if possible.

Agreed. If the fish isn't eating, then it won't be very effective treating that way. You may need to dose it in a QT instead of in the food. Just a thought.
