Hi, I haven't added any new items to my tank since late November, but just noticed this up on a rock. Is it a Bristleworm? New to the hobby, about 9 months on a 40 gallon. Pictures are the same item from 2 different angles.

Thanks!
Scott

That’s nasty!

Really? I think it's kind of cute!

I don't know that it is and I can say that I've ever seen anything quite like it. But if it was in my tank I'd do some investigation. Or try to take it out of the tank and hold it in a QT until you find out more. It very well could be beneficial to the tank.

Might also research bearded fireworm, Hermodice carunculata

Thanks, everyone. Doing a little research and wondering if it is a type of flatworm?

Maybe something like this?

I probably should have moved it into qt, but I will check when I get home from work and see if I can still find it.

Thanks,
Scott

Even if you find it and get it out (no small feat I'm sure) I wouldn't dispose of it yet. I'd keep it in a small container and do 2 or 3 100% water changes per day until you do figure out what it is.
