Orbit Marine Pro Dual settings/intensity

i just ordered the 48” pro dual to upgrade my 90 gallon. The tank is 23” deep. I have softies and some LPS now (and a couple SPS frags). If anyone has this light I’d love suggestions on the settings you are using. The light I have now doesn’t have the ability to adjust intensity.

Is it the LOOP, or current orbit marine pro, ?

I felt like the orbit marine pro was powerful, so start easy. My zoanthids and chalices didn't like but my tank is only 18" in height and the lights weren't sitting too high above surface

With confidence at least 40% blues, and run your whites at 20%, to start.

Nonetheless your orbit will come with three acclimation pre-settings..

But they can be very powerful too, but play around..

I currently use these lights on my 240 gallon tank. I have the 72 inch orbit marine pros (the ones right before ic loop). I started with preset number 4 then to 1 then to 3. I have softies and lps, and lots of sps. My tank growth is amazing, and colors are fantastic. I used the preset 4 for about 2 weeks, then 1 for 2 weeks then preset 3. Just space them equally apart because they have a 60 degree lens, unlike the ic loop that has a 90 degree. If you need to see some pics of them I can send some.

It's the current Orbit Marine Pro that they are discontinuing (so it's the higher par one), and it's the dual so I have 2 48" pro lights. They will sit on top of the tank so not much off the water. There is about 8-10" of water before the first coral/rock.

Grab a lux meter , meter the light at top of your tank now, set the intensity to the same lux intensity, then use the acclimation mode.

In my research of these lights, I have a chart of how much par they produce already. I went in increments of 3 all the way to the bottom. Then to make sure I was accurate I used a different lux meter as well. The numbers were always between plus or minus four. I did this on all presets 1 through 4 and also on my own. If you would like that information I can find my charts and post them.

Not only did I go straight down three inches, per increments but I also found the cos/sign angles to see if the angle deflected more or less par as well. I also had to account for the double penetration of the lights when the sign/cos angles crossed. So some of the measurements are say x which is a 3x3 section or to make it easier a 72x3x3^3 section. Then It will show variables a or b for example but I have to use 72x3x3^4 because there is now a 4th demension because the of the cross over points, and as they cross over they retract causing another variable angle.

Due to the density of the water and the same lens, the refraction rate, and depreciation rate will be a constant. I will have to stop short on this experiment somewhat because my tank is larger. However, it would be a bad decision to underestimate these lights. I have used the same lux meter between the orbit marine pros and hydras and radion g4 pros. There is not much of a difference between them. Exspecially when the lux used are certified in a scientific lab, and used only for lab experiments.

Unfortunately I am back to square one on the lights. The online retailer I ordered the Dual Pro from took the order, charged my credit card and sent me a confirmation email. That was Friday night. I had heard nothing as of today. When I checked their website the order wasn't there. When I checked my credit card the charge wasn't there. I called and apparently they are out of this light (and won't get more) so they canceled the order and never told me they did it. Very frustrating. Current discontinued the light because they are coming out with a new one so quantities are limited. If anyone has a suggestion on a comparable light in the $500 range I'd love to hear it. The IC Pro that Current has just seems a little low on the par amounts needed for the depth of my tank.
