I have set up a frag tank (SPS and LPS) which has the following dimensions: 24" wide x 12" high x 12" deep.

I have installed this light: Orbit Marine PRO LED Light with 24 hour Ramp Timer Pro LED Controller. Attached is the manual.

The light comes with 4 presets. Currently, I am using the M4 setting for the acclimation of new frags added to the tank last week. Today, I switched to the M3 setting which is a full 12 hour intensity.

Considering the tank dimensions, I am satisfied that the light spread provides ample lighting to all areas of the tank.

This light has blue and white LEDs. When both are at 100% intensity, the tank is lit like a stadium as the white LEDs overpower the blue.

I don't like the look. What I like is the look when I turn off the white LEDs and just use the blue... the colors of my corals pop more under the blue.

So my question is about adjusting light intensity. Since each color is on a separate channel, can I reduce the intensity of the white so that the blue has more influence, visually? Will this hurt my corals?

Yes , adjust manually to your liking with no prob.

Fwiw , the current series of leds is the only led that I color temp tested that came out to a true 20k at a 1:1 ratio.

I use m4 exclusively as it's the easiest template to mod for daily viewing etc.
 
So light intensity doesn't matter? I reduced the white LEDs to 35% intensity so that the blue has an effect. And I wouldn't mind reducing it more.
The reduction will effect them yes.
But slight ines maybe just fine as corals are generally pretty adaptable.

And of course it's going to be difficult to gauge that actual amount you're reducing it without a par or lux meter to guide you.

I personally consider it it like guessing on alkalinity.

So, if I am understanding you, light intensity effects the RATE of growth?

Also, if you don't mind my asking... you said you use the M4 setting as a starting point and then make adjustments. What adjustments do you make to the M4 setting?

At the top, I get 28 lux.
At the bottom. I get 20 lux.

What numbers should I be trying to get?

Mix and time. Plus ramp. That's it. I have one in the fuge and one in the DT.

And no light intensity is not the only factor in growth.

Zoas for example will take 50 to 900+ par. (Some won't take 50btw)
Many corals are like this. So a minor decease likely will not effect them much.

Plus most folk actual have no idea their par and grow great corals.

Eww. Like 3000 to 6000. At a one to one.

Is this the non lensed version?

Are you sure you're reading it correctly ?

I.e. X100 or X10 is missing ?
