Orchid Dottyback and Yellow Coris Wrasse

Think I might have made a mistake in introducing a yellow coris wrasse with in my tank tonight that has held a Orchid Dottyback for a few months now. Once the dottyback saw the wrasse, he went after until the wrasse burried under a rock. I was told by my LFS they would get along but not convinced. Its also in a pretty small tank (13 gal) so I might have to return my wrasse if its getting picked on too bad. The orchid dottyback has been very peaceful with my other fish but perhaps the wrasse body type is too similar.

Yeah the tank is far too small as it is to add a wrasse let alone a small tank with an established Dottyback.
I would return the wrasse and ask the person who assisted you what they were thinking when they sold you the fish.

yeah yellow canary or coris wrasses get 4-5" long and grow pretty quickly. i've had mine for 2 years and i got it as a tiny juvenile female and now it's a large male, a 13g tank definitely is a temporary at best (QT) home for one

Thought that might be the case. I'll continue to monitor it. That wrasse might be a real problem to catch as it will bury itself now. It will totally destroy my established aquascape trying to catch it.

it's actually really easy to catch the sand burying wrasses, assuming they bury somewhere accessible. just watch where it goes in and then scoop that out with a cup or something
