Hey good Morning
I incorrectly ordered the stage 7 refill pack instead of the stage 6. Since I have 3 different bags of resin, could you all please tell me which of the 3 to use? Or am I out of luck and need to use all 3 for them to properly work. Thanks for your help.

Also, could you tell me if I need to change out or rinse any media in theses water saver containers?

Thanks for reaching out. I called Bill but they are closed on Saturday.

I only have to di cartridges instead of the 3 that the stage 7 has.

I did see that I should change out the water saver cartridges every 3 years.

thanks

Have you ever had ICP, or alike, testing done?

For example: I have well water and my cation resin is consumed at a very low rate, about one-fifth the rate of anion, So, I use anion resin in one cartridge and mixed bed in the other to more efficiently use the media. (in my 6-stage)

The mixed bed is just a combination of the anion and cation resin which is what BRS uses in both cartridge's of their 6-satge. If you could reseal and remove the air from the foil bags after opening you could make your own mixed bed to duplicate BRS's 6-stage.

If not, put cation in one followed by the anion in the other and save the mixed bed for when one is depleted (Probably the easiest path).

Also, no reason to clean or rinse the RO membranes per se. If you have the 'deluxe' system you should periodically use the membrane flush valve...look at the manual.

When I change the media in the resin cartridges I usually run roughly the first gallon down the drain.

Bulk reef have a video where they explain the best order to have the resin, in a 3 resin setup, if I remember correctly they suggested having a mixed bed at the end, if my resin I would probably would put half a bag of mixed resin at the top of each resin canister, with some of each of the other 2 resins at the bottom of each canister…so no you have not wasted your money.

Thanks for all the insight. I really appreciate the help. I have not had a water test done on the water coming into my house. We are city sourced so do not have a well on my property.

Thanks for the information on the membranes. How often do you replace them?

Easy, read the side of your membrane, it will have a rejection rate, something like 95%, which means if your incoming water is 300tds the membrane should be kicking out water at the other run at no more than 15tds, your resin then takes that 15 down to zero, just pull out the tube from the membrane and test the tds before it hits the resin, obviously this is provided that your water pressure is high enough to let your membrane run and the correct efficiency rate, temp of water also plays a part, if too cold it will reduce the effectiveness of tds removal, but generally you can safely go by whether your membrane is within the stated rejection rate it displays.

*Too hot will ruin the membrane too...

Yes if you were to pass hot water through the membrane, but if the op were to do that they need more help than I can offer. :)
I was just piggy-backing on your comment that cold water reduces the membrane efficiency... Didn't want someone turning on the hot water to increase it ;)

Yep seen those posts.
Living in Houston (where there's never really 'cold' water out of the tap in the summer), I have to run the (cold) water for a few minutes before hooking the RODI back up just to get it below 90!

And don't get me started on trying to rinse lettuce for a salad!
