So I just got my order from Petco and was supposed to be a fine sand but got aragonite. I somehow ordered the wrong sand. I’m thinking of keeping this but I’m not sure. Are there any drawbacks from using this instead of a fine sand bed? What about sand sleeping wrasse? Any feedback would be appreciated.

This is what I’ve used for almost 20 years. It’s fine for sand sifting/sleeping animals. The larger grain size also helps accommodate higher flow. Just make sure you spend a good amount of time rinsing it.

I used their Arag-Alive sand but it’s the same texture. No problems with my goby, sand sifters, or my wrasse. Honestly, once you get your power heads going, you’re probably going to be happy you got this sand instead. The finer stuff blows around a lot more.

This is what I intended to buy.

Hmmm... The sand you intended to buy appears to be Carib Sea Super Natural Moonlight Sand, which has no pH buffering capability (supposedly), so perhaps the aragonite you purchased was a much better choice. The Moonlight Sand also seems to be composed of silica (diatom fuel).

Imho, you want what you got. That other stuff is more ornamental sand for freshwater aquariums. I went with three bags of this when I started the 120 gal. As I didn't bother to rinse and move sand from my cube.
