Hows it going everyone? well since i live in a horrible place in California and merchandise where i live is scarce. I usually end up having to drive about an hour or two to get corals. What i was wondering was if anyone has ever ordered from eBay or any other online site, and how it worked out for you. Any feedback will be appreciated and also suggestions on reputable website where i could order some nice pieces. I live in California so any sites based out of cali would be cool, since i know shipping is a beast. well your help is appreciated

I wouldn't trust eBay. Be wary of doctored pics and false advertising. In most cases, if its too good to be true, it is.

I have gotten great stuff from Cherry Corals. Haven't ordered much else online personally.

Look in to Diver's Den, Joe Knows Reefs, Battle Corals, etc. (Just take a stroll through the Sponsor forum ;))

Also check out your local forum. LA has a huge Reefing community and chances are there are people near you with lots of frags.

I agree 100%.

I have had more good experiences off ebay and corals than bad, but I would stick to the larger vendors like Live Aquaria, Unique Corals and Cherry corals (all my fav).

I agree with the vendors listed... But a majority of the US corals and fish come into Long Beach and some of the largest distributers are in that area... I just figured you guys got the cream of the crop, first pick and we ended up with the rest... Of course SD and SF get their fair share too and that is a long drive in either direction for you... I should not assume the LFS in your area are hand selecting from the wholesale distributers out there... But then again I am reverting back to wild caught and if you want farm raised corals then these vendors are a good choice.

Where are you in Ca? You sound like me out in the Palm Springs area. :) I have ordered multiple times from SoCalAquaFarms (out of San Diego) and once from LAReefs (San Bernardino) on eBay and had great experiences with both. They offer discounted shipping if you are "local" too. I just don't see paying a ton for shipping if I don't have to. Places that offer free shipping usually only do so after you spend a lot.

I just noticed that you are in Los Angeles. PM me and I can give a couple other suggestions for somewhat local places.there is a guy in Compton that sells from his garage and he has a huge selection and great prices. It looks like a fish store in there, not just a frag tank in the corner.

Funny thing is I've always been afraid to be a seller on ebay. But just last week I gave it a shot. I started all my auction for $8.88. I only listed 13 to just see. They all sold. I will do it again soon. I had fun really. Watching the end to see how active people were bidding.

Reef Pets sells really nice sps on there. He's been in the game for a long time. You can trust him.

What name on eBay? I'll keep an eye on you. Love supporting local sellers.

Golden Basket is awesome seller. He's in my neighborhood though, so I can skip shipping. Great livestock. Always healthy and wysiwyg. I've had good results with Reef Pets too.

WoosAquatics123 has good stuff too, but does not seem to post nearly as much as they used to. I've never ordered thru them, but see some cool stuff from time to time. Not local enough to me for discounted shipping.

ColorfulReef is another that has really expanded and has good grabs from time to time. Mostly Zoas and shrooms. Anaheim area and allows pick-up. Shipping is only $15 too.
