Ordering corals this time of year...

So I was wondering how corals are shipped this time of year. I am seeing some pretty awesome stuff come on the site and I would like to order some of it, but I am hesitant at the same time because of how cold it is getting in my area. I only live in North Carolina, but the temps at night are down in the 30's and high twenties. I know the corals are packed with heat packs and such to maintain temperature, but what if the package is lost or takes a little longer to arrive? What is everyone's thoughts on ordering during the winter months?

I have had good luck year around with the vendors who know what they are doing... fish and corals in winter months

It depends on how its packed, you can ask the seller how he prepares and ships. I use uline boxes for the wall thickness and quality of the box with heat packs that are appropriate for the expected temps it will be going thru. I have done a lot of cold weather testing with my freezer and am confident with my shipping practices in nearly any temps. To me I'd much rather ship thru cold weather versus hot.

they go though more stress in the winter .heating pack will do some help but sometimes shippment gets delayed and sits out then it will get cold.but overall theyusally come in good and only thing is corals will take longer to open up.

As long as they are packed correctly and you make sure you get them right when they arrive. So many times something gets sent out and no one is there to get it when it arrives. It then gets left on the door step or rides around in the truck for the rest of the day.
