Just set up a New 150g everything is Balanced and I have part of my Tang Gang in with a couple others. I really wanted a couple fish from either Live Aquaria or saltwater fish. Only problem is I don't have a Quarantine Tank Set up. I can Fresh water deep if needed. I will not have corals for a couple months. Thoughts please.

I lost my last tank to Marine Velvet and Im scared

IMO Fresh water dip will only cause problems when being shipped. You can add them to the dt but it’s best to qt first

The fresh water will address flukes but others may get thru. And James mentioned it is another stressor.

Sorry about the last tank. In my opinion if you just set up and finished cycling I would slow down on stocking. Also if you put in the fish already in the tank with out QT just recently there is always a possibility some did get in. Let what you have stay for a while. Feed and keep water quality good. Once the tank is more established and no signs of disease then move to order fish slowly and qt to avoid future issues.

If you lost a tank to velvet it will likely happen again unless you implement a quarantine protocol.

You’re really rolling the dice when you don’t quarantine. It will be fine until it’s not. And it seems it’s not a matter of if, but when.

I got a $30 10 gal from Walmart to get
My first emergency quarantine set up. It’s a heck of a lot better than nothing. Now I have 3 quarantine tanks and the main one is a 36 gallon bowfront in my bedroom that I got on clearance at a petco sale. I can still enjoy my new fish and keep my dt safe. That’s a Win-win for me.

I am not trying to be a smart aleck nor am I here to bash you...

But for the price you would pay for one fish with shipping from LiveAquaria you can get a brand new quarantine tank up and running from Walmart. And for the cost of two fish and shipping from LiveAquaria you would be able to add copper power and a copper test kit to a brand new quarantine set up from Walmart.

9 months ago when I started getting fish I got a 10 gallon starter tank with a lid light and it's cheap overflow filter for under $65 from Walmart and the copper power and API copper test kit for under $35...

Awesome.

Would you be able to just have them order other fish when you are ready and do same, or have them order and then you can QT. Just a thought :)

Great Thought, But he is moving in two weeks so he will not be getting any new fish and he takes a long time to get livestock even though he has my fish list.

I think I need to cool my Jets and hide a QT tank somewhere at the house or work
