I'm looking to order a 48"x 24" x 24" 120 gallon tank, I first contacted Glass Cages spoke to Donna on the phone Thursday and Friday, she was nice enough but could't answer all my questions. She told me the tank designer would call me Monday. I was ready to pay my deposit but have never received a return call. I decided to contact Miracles in Canada they have been great they have answered the phone and returned every call and Emails. They also upgraded the Euro brace to Starfire glass at no charge. I just put my deposit on the Miracles and am going with the Ghost overflow from Reef Savvy. I hope I'm happy with the Ghost as I've read many bad reviews of the Shadow by Synergy and I guess they used to be partners. I was also Leary of Glass Cages as I've read some bad reviews.

Anyone have any thoughts on the Ghost overflow by reef savvy, I have time to change my mind, but that is the one they offer. Other wise I have to send them the hole dimensions and hope they are in the right spot

I do not have a Ghost Over Flow.

However, my neighbor does and it's awesome... the in tank part is so small...

It looks a little flimsy, but the acrylic joints look very well bonded.

My next tank will have one. Right now I have a red sea and like it, but the over flow tanks up a lot more space than the ghost.

Just my 2 cents.

I just want a tank. I like to build my own stands

I cant believe they would not sell the tank separately - but like most manufacturers - my guess is that they would not honor a warranty without using their stand?

A lot of them sell the whole set up, Miracles tells me that Reef Savvy is no longer selling the Ghost overflows, that you have to buy a tank from them. They show out of stock.

What about the innovative marine tanks?

I think you’ll be pleased with whichever you decide on. It sounds like you e done a lot of research. Nothing is foolproof. You just do your best. As for Glass Cages... I bought two very large tanks from them in the early 2000’s. They were both 300+ gallons. They were beautifully made. I’ve heard the bad stories you have heard. It makes me kinda sad.

You can purchase any overflow you like and send it to Derek you don't have to send them dimensions. I was about to go with the Ghost overflow but decided to save the $300 and go with an external overflow Miracles Made. FWIW The shadow from synergy reef is not the same as the Ghost from Reef Savvy, they have slightly different designs.

I've added pictures below of my overflow so you can get an idea. The ONLY thing I'd change is requesting they do not cut the overflow slots wider than the overflow. As you can see on mine the slots go wider than the overflow and the silicone has oozed out of them. Not the end of the world and it's hard to notice unless you really look but something to be aware of...

Derek mentioned the one they make but I thought he said they usually put it on bigger tanks than mine, He did say it would work but still recommended the Ghost. I'll take a look at your build. Are you happy with it other than what you mentioned or would you have gone with the Ghost if you could do it again.

The only thing the Ghost has over It IMO is a removable weir for cleaning. Other than that there is nothing slimmer than it (it's only 1/4" acrylic VS the Ghosts inch orso). I find it rather odd that Derek would say there's they usually only put there's on larger tanks as mine is actually smaller than the Ghost at 16.5" of useable weir wide and 19" from one end of the acrylic weir to the other.

And if I had the opportunity to do it all over again (extra weir slots aside), I'd still go with the overflow I have now. :) Especially with the Eurobracing.

Does anyone know if reef savvy is still selling the overflows? I read above someone stating they thought they were not anymore. Only in there tanks. Cause I’ve been searching for one myself.
