I haven't had any issues ordering online so far. I have only tried petco because they had the 30 day guarantee. My only problem was I ordered a small Valentini and they sent me a HUGE one. They did the same for an anemone. I was able to keep them but I ordered smaller ones for a reason. I was thinking of trying live aquaria which I have heard great things about. Anyone have any specific experience with la or can recommend anyone else that was accurate with size ordered vs size received? I'd rather get a refund then sent the next size up.

Petco OWNS Liveaquaria (at least that's what I last heard) so your experience will be at least the same, except better, because they'll send you what you ASKED FOR :D

I've used vividaquariums and saltwaterfish.com. I highly recommend vividaquariums, the quality of the coral was great. The fish I ordered also were in great condition. Both vendors were accurate with order size.

Best of the best. I like them a lot.( Live Aquaria.)
Pieces of The Ocean, Pacific East Aquaculture, are also really really good.
I have not had any bad experiences lately online.

Maybe 15 years ago, I had an experience similar where a Black Tang from Christmas Island came in way too big for my tank. ( Dealer no longer in business)
" Small really small." May be 12 -13 inches? My biggest tank at the time was 65 gallon.
I made friends with the Oklahoma City Zoo real quick

Liveaquaria is good about sending you what you order in regards to size of fish. If it says 1-2" for a small fish that's what you'll receive. I've ordered from them since Petco bought them out and haven't had a problem with orders or customer service.

The last online fish order I made was from bluezooaquatics.com all fish were healthy and as described! Most recent order was all coral from an eBay seller, golden basket! Great service and products. I will definitely purchase from both again!

Thanks for all the advice. I noticed petco has officially closed down all their live fish options and just direct you to LA. Was hoping they won't ruin LA.

Divers den (live Aquaria subsidiary), petsolutions.com, live aquaria, pieces of the ocean, aquatica coral.

I've probably received over 100 fish shipments in the past year for myself and my several tanks, a few friends, and my family. Divers den is top notch, pet solutions has the exact same source and warranty as live aquaria often for lower prices and free shipping at 99 vs 225, and pieces of the ocean is wonderful as well. I choose divers den first, then pet solutions, then live aquaria but pieces of the ocean is wonderful also.

But seriously don't overlook pet solutions they often have better selection (carry more species) but source the exact same. You could order one fish from pet solutions that would have been shipped if you paid more from live aquaria. Neither one holds fish they ship direct from quality marine.
