Oregon tort question.

So I’ve had an Oregon tort frag in my tank for over a month now. Front and center in my tank getting over 250 PAR probably closer to 300. Frag hasn’t really done anything. I acclimated it to my lights over a week or two before mounting but it’s looked the same ever since. All other SPS that I received around that time are encrusting and coloring up. Are Oregon torts just slow in general?

One month isn't long at all; and yes, the oregon tort is pretty slow for a lot of people.

I have a frag of the Oregon tort that’s been sitting in my tank for almost 10 months that thing barley encrusted around the base while other sps are becoming mini colonies lol

I have 3 all of which are slow growers but the one at the top with 350 par has grown the most.

That’s good to know, I placed it high up hoping to get the best coloration.

Once it gets to a certain size it takes off, not a slow grower when that happens.

Mine have all stayed deep blue but the top one is branching and encrusting albeit slowly. The other two are just dormant compared to other SPS around them.

My experience as well. Started small/slow but once it got a couple branches and reached maybe 3" it took off.

Get ready to sit and wait…and wait…and wait some more. This OG beauty is a painfully slow grower, but then it kicks in and has some nice spurts of growth that won’t disappoint. The wait is worth it. Let it sit there until it shows you love.

See that blue in the middle there? That's 4 years of growth. Maybe 7" in diameter.

Yep. That’s pretty normal. Luckily once they reach that size they start to grow exponentially. Unfortunately I lost mine in the move to our new house last year. Looking for a good frag!
