i was talking about purple monster earlier today, but then i found a great sale and in it was one of my favorite sps (oregon tort), it will be here tomorrow and i would like to know everything i need to about the oregon tort

Thanks

smash that guy with light and flow, then wait years for it to grow an inch:X

Most say it is painfully slow growing, but mine seems to be doing pretty well. I got it from Victor at WWC, and it's a beautiful piece. I have it on the sandbed under a 250 Phoenix 14K with Geisemann Actinic Plus supplement. Truly a beautiful coral.

Thanks i would about a half a foot in front of a powerhead on the top of my rocks be to much flow??

I love it because it is so so deep blue colored

High light, moderate flow. Mine was slow to grow at first, but put up with a lot of abuse (so I'd say very hardy!). Now it grows pretty well...

Thanks, you all pretty much answered all of my ?s except would it being right in front of a powerhead be to much flow?

I cant get over how blue this coral is!!

I persnoally would not put it right in front of a PH.

ok thanks alot

i think i have a spot, ill post pictures when it here!!

I find mine doesn't need a lot of flow but high light is desired. It does grow slow at first but will eventually take off. It is pretty aggressive, too. It wipes out A. turaki, Monti cap, and a few other corals that "get in its way".

thanks, didnt think about the deadly factor of corals

it wouldnt harm other torts though....right?

Generally speaking, you don't want to let acros touch each other.

ok ,this is my 1st tort so i didnt know if things were differant

I believe thats all my questions, so thank you all for answering them

Mine started out a small frag from WWC but this is 7 months of growth

Victor said the green will fade with growth and more light, but I just cannot move it when it's growing so good.

The blue tort grows pretty slow for about 6mth to a year if you get it as a small frag but once a small colony really takes off. And yep, don't put it right in front of a powerhead, you don't want direct flow on any coral. The pic of the colony, i bet he can trim quite a bit off every 6mths. They like a par of 300 or more.
