I have a male Ornate Boxfish that is in need of a new home. I’ve had him about 4 years or so but I need downsize the amount of tanks I’m running. I don’t have the ability to ship so I am posting on here to see if there’s anyone in FL with a cold water setup that may want to take him. I’m in Sarasota but I can drive to meet up if anyone is interested. I’d like to get $300 but I’m open to offers as well.

Very nice fish , how cold do you keep the water ?

Wow, I could watch that fish swim all day. It’s a beaut! How cold is the system it’s in currently?

I realize this is an old thread but I'm very curious about a few things. Any idea how much it costs to keep the tank at 62° a month? Also, how did you come about getting the specimen? They're very rare and coldwater tanks are as well so I would imagine they don't come up in retail much. Super cool fish. Outside of the temp did you have any difficults keeping it? One last question (promise) did you keep it with other fish given the toxic response to stress?

No idea the cost, it’s 1 of 3 tanks and it’s the smallest at 90 gal. I actually got it as a shipping mixup about 6 years ago from Pacific Island Aquatics. No difficulty feeding from day 1, are everything I fed, Nori, pellet, and mysis. Extremely cool personality, would follow you around the tank all the time. He was kept alone merely out of the lack of availability of other cold water species. When I first got him I had to lower my FOWLR tank to 71 and keep him with a Melanarus wrasse, Marine Betta, 3 Tangs, Puffer, and a Pilotfish in a 180 gal until I could get an additional tank setup which was almost a year and they were all fine. Unfortunately he died a couple months ago out of nowhere, but was a great fish.
