Hello everyone, I was wondering how crucial orp is in a reef tank. The reason being my orp fluctuates daily and I wanted to know if I should maintain a certain number. Thanks for any input

It does fluctuate usually opposite the PH. I only monitor ORP because I use Ozone to keep the water clear. Here is a video of my tank:

would you mind sharing how you acclimated the Emperor and Rock Beauty. Were they well established on prepared foods before introduction? Do they nor munch your coral or just not enough to bother such a robust system? RB is one of my favorites....

The Rock Beauty is fine unless you put some sponge in the tank. I have a big reef tank so he can find his own sponge without me noticing along the rock work. The Emperor Angel will eat some soft corals so you need to be careful with that. Neither will bother my Acropora or my Montipora. I do have some Flame angels that will nip at the SPS corals but as you can see I have plenty of corals so it does not bother them. I wish the Emperor would eat Green Star Polyp but he doesn't seem to care for it.

I think the key to the Rock Beauty is to have solid rock work in your tank with sponges growing on them. I would say let the tank be in place for at least 1 year before adding him into the tank.

There is no optimal ORP target. It is most important if you are dosing oxidizers such as ozone to be sure you do not add too much.
