ORP probe dying or issue in my tank?

So I have been getting strange ORP readings. Does this look like a bad probe or an issue in my tank?

All my fish and inverts look fine and I currently only have an acan in the tank which also looks fine. My tank is 3 months old but my apex was moved from my last tank and was originally installed in 2018. PH is 8.0-8.1

Hmm, hard to tell with ORP as I don't use it in my reef tanks. I do use it frequently with my pool and spa, however.

One can pull it out and test it in a bucket with some tap water and light chlorine, possibly adding saltwater alone to RODI might do this as well. Start with just pH neutral water. Begin by adding more oxidizing agents like the above and something should show an increase ORP and diluiting your sample with RODI should reduce ORP. There may be other ways but for me, that would be my method. Make very sure to rinse and re-rinse before placing back in the sump or tank.

So, I have solved this problem and wanted to update this thread in hopes that it helps someone.

So the probe is fine. I went to do some maintenance and had the stand door open for a bit and the next day I noticed my orp was at notmal levels. My stand is mostly enclosed except a few holes for pipes and wires. I'm guessing there wasn't enough air turnover inside the stand. So I snaked a tube out of the stand and hooked it up to the skimmer air intake. So far I have not seen this logarithmic type pattern repeat. As a side note I have started dosing kalk but im pretty sure the air exchange is the main culprit.

Just so you know if your ORP was truly 48 due to not having enough air or oxygen around your tank believe me everything would be dead. I would look elsewhere and I would also assume your problem will come back even though you put a hose down there

I would venture to say your issue was more of a ORP cable getting interference from some power source causing the issue and you may have possibly moved the cable away from the power cord not knowing and correcting the problem
