Hello,

I have a 150 gallon saltwater tank, with about 100 lbs LR. I have skimmer running 24 hrs a day. Tank is 9 months old.

Checked water quality today and all my parameters are perfect!

Here's my question:

I recently built and added a Turf Scrubber to my system about a week ago I have removed all poly filters from my system.

Before I installed it my ORP would hover between 400 - 420 per 24hrs. Now since the scrubber my ORP has jumped to 420 - 440 per 24hrs.

In just a week.

I checked the calibration, all is fine.

Can ORP get too high? Should I worry about this? If so, what can I do?

Thank you in advance for any help!

I wouldn't worry about the ORP getting too high unless you start running an ozone generator.

+1 ORP can vary greatly between different tanks. As I don't use Ozone, I pay little attention to a specific value - rather using it as a trend indicator alerting me to any change in the tank.

I would speculate your ORP increase had more to do with removing the mechanical filtration than the addition of the ATF. IME, tanks with refugiums and macro algaes seem to run slightly lower ORP values than those without. IE, I typically see small ORP increases just after weekly filter sock changes.
