hello,

Trying to figure this out:

Can the gateway communicate with my/your router via wireless? I assume no. In that case can gateway be at router, wired to router and these are roughly 60’away from light and operate correctly? Thx

Ok.....this was my pre-purchase inquiry. I received my light yesterday. Unbowed and setup today. I actually had some challenges getting my gateway to communicate with my application. I in my frustration emailed Orphek support and in less than an hour was exchanging emails. 15 minutes later was all functioning correctly..

This light is in my opinion spectacular as far as visual appearanc, build quality etc. the final test is in how if supports growth and color though my expectations are high. I expect I will be purchasing a couple more of these and be switching out my other systems to these V4's. Highly recommended......

Thanks for the 1st impressions. We are running some of their LED strip lights and I like them as well.

how does shimmer look?

I have radions on a tank and Orpheks on another.....I’d say shimmer is similar to radions and less than kessils.... it depends also on how high above tank you mount the light....lower and more blend separation. Honestly I only notice when I look for either (shimmer or color separations) as the look is great.

Also noteworthy the interface with the software program is much better than on my G4 Pros......while both are good I’d say advantage on G4s are the volume of info available for settings plus of course coral labs programs. Orphek is just so easy to adjust by channel.. I give the lower marks to Radions because I have consistent problems getting the programming to “take” and it often drops out requiring me to unplug and replug everything to get them all to work using reeflink. I know many do not have this problem, but for me it has not been fun so trouble free on orpheks has been good

Cool. Thanks for the info. What are your thoughts:
I am early planning a new build.
Tank will be 72”L x 36”D x 30”H

I am considering 2 diff lightings:
1) atlantic v4 (x3) mounted perpendicular to front

2) atlantic compact (x3) mounted same, but also mount 2 kessil a360 in between.

Not sure if option 2 is stupid, I was thinking it would give a more halide-like shimmer. Probably over-analyzing. My initial thought is just setup 1.

Anyway, thanks again for the info on your experience.

Doran,
Since you have G4 and Atlantic, if you had to set up a new system with SPS what light what you get?.. i am debating between G4 and Atlantic..
Also, coverage is a bit concern . tank is 72x36x24...

thank you for your feedback
