Orphek Atlantik V4 Compact Diffuser

I know it's an old thread now but I am thinking of making my own diffusers for my Atlantic V4z. Still in the planning stage but have order the diffuser I am going to use, the same I used when I had Radion gen3s.
Can I ask why you decided to mount the diffusers so far away from the light itself at 1.1/2"?
Given there is no need for ventilation between the diffuser and the light I would have thought you could mount the plate right up against the light.
Did you try mounting the diffuser closer to the light at all before settling on 1.1/2" way?
Cheers.

Update time!

Thanks for the suggestion, though I wasn't able to find the screws I needed locally (at least ones that were long enough) I ended up ordering them from Amazon as well as some compatible nuts. Now the diffusion plate is about 1.5" off the light, and it's made a huge difference honestly.

The edges of the plate itself are still a bit rough, and the screw holes are a bit off center, so it's not super pretty, but it works and it's not the ugliest thing ever, so I think I'm happy with it.

The diffuser sheet not passed our test, you don’t want to loose lots of light . So we found a better solution with only 8% lost. So we test it now .

Sorry my post was to simon not you guys hence why I quoted him but thank you for your response.

Any updates on this? I'm getting ready to move my lights to a new tank in about a month and being able to possibly add this during the move would be nice.

I made and fitted 2 diffusers to my Atlantic V4s. My lights are only 10" off the waters surface so had a lot of spotting. I have a couple of photos taken before and after I fitted them.

Those seem to have done a decent job of getting rid of the disco ball effect. Mine are mounted at 16” and it’s not too bad but my new setup will be a little lower so I know it’s going to be a little more obvious and it would be nice to get something done while it’s easy to do.

Apart from the loss of PAR.

Yea - that’s why the one the Orphek guys were talking about seems so appealing. If they are talking only an 8% decrease, that’s pretty good.
According to the manufacturers of th diffuser plate I use PAR is only decreased by 11%. I don't have a PAR meter but it seems much more than that in use.

Can you provide a link of the material used to make the diffuser? Also can we use the RMS or similar mounts for these lights?

How is the diffusers working for you? Worth the effort? Is the juice worth the squeeze? lol
I sold my Atlantics and bought new icons. I haven't refitted the diffusers. Despite the manufacturers claiming 11% reduction in PAR the tank looked dimmer than that reduction. I don't possess a PAR meter nor know anybody local with one so couldn't measure them.

I have 2 light fixtures on the way. I do have the MQ510 par meter so i'll see how i like the lights and get numbers on the par.
