Can someone explain this to me.

I ordered some Orphex lights a few weeks ago. It was delivered and all that fun stuff. They told me shipping was free (Trying to find that email) and paid their invoice.

I get a bill from FedEx charging me $73.35 for Duty and Taxes

$40.35 Customs
$20 Food and Drug Clearance
$7 Advancement Fees

Does this sound right? I feel like I got screwed from @Orphek ! Shouldn't they be the one to pay these charges? I contacted them and waiting for a response. Hoping to get some feedback here

If I had known about these charges (Which no where said anything about custom fees and I've ordered lots of things from China before), I would never have ordered these lights.

I have not bought a lot from china but sounds like you took the brunt of the sellers shipping....

I had a similar bill from UPS years ago from a model airplane that came from Canada.

Dannnng. I got some light bars from them coming tomorrow. Lol better not be getting a charge like that

I just got a shipment worth $350+ from Hong Kong in like 3 days and did not have to pay any shipping fees.

I don’t think the bill has anything to do with Orphex or Fedex. It’s the government that is getting the money. At least that was the case when I had the issue years ago.

This is not Orphek's fault. It is the shipping company and government's. They did in fact charge you no shipping and probably paid FedEx's charges for the actual freight. It is just the downside of purchasing from out of country. I deal with a lot of Canadian customer's that buy US car parts and are pretty bummed as well.

Orphek, sorry

Chances are they just messed up when shipping, they have an option to charge themselves, or the customer for those charges. I bet they just clicked the wrong box. I haven't heard of anyone else getting charged so I think it's probably a mistake.

But yes someone has to pay those charges, always. This is exactly what tariffs and duties are.

I hope that's the case. I am waiting for their response to see what they say
