hi, all our reefers! plz help. ostreopsis dinoflagellates algae came out nowhere when my po4 stay zero for few months, they are not everywhere in the tank, doesn't looks terrible but only stringy snot looking things with bubbles surrounding the acropora corals, they killed 7 acro colonies already within a week! now i did what i reserched, setup a UV, boosted the nutreits, introdused good bacteria, less lighting, stop water changes, syphon as much as i can...they'er still looks as invisible as the day one, but only hanging on the acros and some sps corals. anymore advise for me? also some reefer recommented raise the the temp to 81-82 to kill the ostreopsis dino, but some others reefers said that lower to under 77 to keep them less aggressive, don't really know who is right lol. thanks in advence !!!

hi frank sorry to heard that your lost on acros! ostreo dino are not easy to beat off once it kick in, all the metho you were performing are right just need too be patient, keep doing what youare thinking was right, eventually they will be all gone. about the temp part i have not clue yet, hope someone here will give you the right answers soon. best wish and happy reefing!

Honestly it sounds like youre on the right track. Keep nutrients up, keep running the uv light, and dosing bacteria and phyto. It took me 3 months before i beat mine. Its not a quick battle and its unfortunately really tough on the corals. If you want the fastest way to beat them to try and save corals, buy a bunch of live rock and shove it in the tank and sump. Remove some old rock if you need to make room. Of course youll have to keep an eye out for pests.

thanks kent n TheDragonsReef! i got the phyto from one og my friend, he is clown breeder, i dose 200ml of it into my display, but about hour later, they all goes into skimmer collection cup lol, my friend said that phyto won't lives in reef tank for too long, if i just want to raise nutreits level, he said i can just keep dose no3 and po4 as i am doing now.

If the struggle continues, review this Guide for additional ideas. The size and placement of the UV is pretty important for ostreos.
