OT Traffic around Bonnaroo this weekend?

Hey guys, I am probably going to be going to the Atlanta area this weekend and just realized Bonnaroo is this weekend. I remember seeing on the news a few years ago that traffic was very bad. Has it still been bad down 24 the last couple of years? If so, any recommended alternate routes? I will probably be going down there Friday during the day and coming back on Sunday.

Go to Birmingham and from there to Atlanta. Trust me you don't wanna go down 24. Some people say going that way is faster anyway. ( debatable)

Yeah stay well away from 24. Just take 65 south to BHM then 20 east to ATL. Should be about 4-5 hours from Nashville.

i travel thorugh that area every year on the saturday afternoon of bonnarroo for a different event i attend just outside chattanooga, never had an issue, just depends on when you are traveling through. thursday night, friday night, saturday morn all stink

Thanks guys, that's kinda what I was thinking. I'll play with my GPS tonight and see what the best alternate route will be.

I've driven 24 with no problems during the roo. They have all vehicles that are attending the festival drive on the shoulder so the regular traffic can keep moving. It is a matter of timing though. You don't want to be around when people start leaving.

I think I'm just going to take my chances and go down 24. I know someone who lives down there and they said it wasn't too bad unless you were going through when it was starting.

Yeah, I didn't even notice any increase in traffic at all down there.

wednesday thursday and mondays are the bad days... between then, they are all stoned and either partying or passed out.
