Ouch! My wallet hurts

Regarding the topic of the prices at the LFS, I too like to support the local stores so that they will be there for us when we need them to. I cant justify paying 3 times the price of online stores though. so what I do is tell them that. I say "I'd rather give you my money then buy online, can you do a better price?" And most places will give you a better deal if it's not a big box store.
One LFS sells a bucket of instant ocean salt for $170 dollars and then has a orange sticker that says "on sale at $130" lol! I don't ever bother to buy dry good from them, but all their corals are $50 no matter what it is, so sometimes you get smoking hot deals. Sometimes people don't and buy a blue mushroom for $50. Lol. It's just one big tank full of random corals, I ask when the shipments come in and show up only on those days. Lol..

I don't know why, but I can walk into a room with hundreds of Corals and my heart instantly spots the most expensive have to have Lol. So far my most expensive was a 5 head torch @ $150, but my ignorance and placing it too close to a killer acan guaranteed it's demise in a mere couple weeks :(
Well cause cost is directly proportional to good looks :wink wink:

Watch for second hand, I picked up a Vertex Illumina ( reg $3200) for $700 plus a 6 hr drive.
i hope it works out well for you, i've had ZERO luck with purchasing second hand and on a big ticket item like that... no way i could do it. i'll pay the extra for a solidified warranty

I've had the light for a month and a half now. We drove 6 hours to pick it up, the seller was really nice and explained how to mount and operate it. Other than my computer incompetence everything has been great with it :)

I'm in the middle of the Southern CA desert. Unfortunately the closest club I've been able to find is at least 2 hours away. I want to attend a meeting at some point but I definitely couldn't do so on a regular basis.
Im in the desert in So cal too! we should start our own reef vlub

I'm afraid I wouldn't be much help at the moment. It's my first tank and I don't even have water in it yet. My hours at work are up in the air so until I know what's happening everything has come to a halt. All I had left to get was sand and rock. :( But if one is started I'd certainly like to attend.
