Very nice ;Drool

Herons, dolphins, drifwood and shells ... You've got a whole marine theme going on in there!

That's going to be a beautiful tank, and I think one of the best things about it will be the fact that the fishes will swim in all directions rather than just up and down the long axis of the tank.

Thank you. We are North Carolina beach bums! This is my first deep demission tank and 100% love it. I enjoyed my 220 but you are correct Bruce the fish just swam back and forth. With this one the 2 that we have really enjoy the entire tank. We are going this weekend to look at anemones.

Lesson learned today. Picked up a Red Sea mag test kit this weekend to start getting ready to bring 2 part online. Did my 20 gallon water change this morning and decided to check mag so I proceeded to do the test and the titration stopped at .40 so I looked up .40 and there is no way I could be this low unless instant ocean forgot something in my bucket. Now I know IO can be low at times and I have used them for years but this low on a new tank and fresh 20% water change, couldn't take it so tested again and did drop for drop then shake came out the same. Well after a couple hours of getting mag ready to go in the tank I tested one more time this time I watched the video during the test and did exact as he did, sure enough it stopped at .40 but this time I heard the magic words to free my frustration, "now take how much you used and find on the chart" I was using the number where the plunger stopped not the amount used. Well to say the least my mag is fine and I didn't dose a 400ml over 4 days. Btw tank is doing great need to add a few more clean up crew members this week to get the grass cut but other than that things are good.

So it's been a couple weeks. Not much to update other than still going through the new tank stuff with this dry brs rock. Not complaining just the whole brown algae stuff is getting at me. I have added some corals and now we have added a yellow tang and purple dotti back. I have also added a couple nice and healthy turbo snails. Things look great looking past the algae. I will post some pictures once this stuff is gone.

IMG_0193.JPG IMG_0195.JPG IMG_0198.JPG IMG_0196.JPG IMG_0196.JPG Everything is moving along. The cleaning crew is doing a great job and the algae is under control. We have added a couple corals and a place for the clowns to sleep. I have been working on keeping my ph above 8.0 with some success but every now and then it will drop to 7.9, not to worried about it. Everything I can remember and resently read said just keep alk, cal, and mag in check and the rest will be fine. Enjoy the pictures and sorry for being so blue, iPad really picks up on the 20k Radium.

IMG_0203.JPG So the tank is moving along great. I have found a problem with owning a canopy deep demension, I can't do anything in the back or back sides. With this bothering me I do believe I'm going to go LED. I'm looking at Radion Gen4 or Hydra 52 HD's.

Well just made the purchase to go over to LED. I hope I don't regret it. Going to go open top with 2 AI Hydra 52 HD's. I have done a ton of reading over the last couple months and spent many days and nights with headaches over the issue on which one to buy. I think the is better lights out there but for the money and what I am looking for I think these will exceed my expectations. If you have a 150 DD and run leds send over a picture and let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

IMG_0209.JPG Big changes to the tank. Replace my MH T5 setup with 2 AI Hydra 52 HD's also took the kalk reactor out of the system and fired up a drip system.

It’s been a little bit. The tank is doing great and growing out nice. My new play toy came in a couple weeks ago, Apex Par monitoring kit. This thing is cool. I also came across a deal of a life time so I purchased my dream tank this week. A lightly used 300 gallon dd. We will start that beauty up in Aug Sept

Tank looks great. I also have a 150DD. Check out my tank.
Was there a reason you took the canopy off?

I like the open top look but I can get to any spot in the tank now. With the top on I was limited to the front and a little on each side. I've since added a nice Aquatic life T5 fixture. I will for sure check yours out. Going to set up a 300DD this summer.

I would love the 300DD. I really like the depth of the 150, but would like the 6ft length

So my new Kh Guardian Pro with AIM came in today. Going to work on setting things up over the next couple days. As things move along I will post info here for everyone to look at. Can’t wait to get this thing fired up!

Nice!! I have one and love it! I have found it to be pretty reliable so far.

Following along!!

So I have the new equipment installed and running. I have tested is against Red Sea and Hanna both of theses are reading low to what the Guardian is reading. I have slowly started to decrease my dosing to allow it to take over at 8.0. I have a ways to go as I started at 9.80 this weekend. My last test 3 hours ago is showing 9.14. So far I am extremely happy and can’t wait to see how it does maintaining the 8.0 with dosing.
