Confirm your parameters are all within range . And haven’t swayed too far away from normal .

The instructions on the dip I believe is specific per product .

perhaps it’s just stress .

I used straight up iodine, Ive seen some people do 30 minutes, but Im a nervous reefer! lol

Im going to test when I get home. I dosed some alk (lightly) on Monday. Only about 14ml.

The last 2 weeks I have been alk 8.5, 8.2, 8.0 (steady going down in small inc. which is what prompted the dosing)
phosphates : .089, .199, .061... Could be a bit lower, but still reasonable (?)

Coralline is the purple correct? I do see some growing in the tank, I also have some hair algae!!

I pulled some off the rocks today, and scrubbed a bit.

Pink , purple , even can be green .
It’s amazing how much alkalinity it uses

scrape it and you will notice the consumption drop

There is also some sort of relation between algae , nutrients and alkalinity .
But you’re nutrients are still up a little I can’t see that being the issue

I didnt get very far.. I whipped out the API test kit, tested for calcium got 380/400, then tested for nitrates and looks to be between 10ppm-20ppm. I then decided to test for ammonia, because why not? and it just looked weird, and so I stopped because I was thinking that I didnt know how old this test kit is AND also its an API test kit which isnt even good.

So I would like to buy test kits today.

I have the Hanna ULR phosphorus checker, and the Hanna Alk checker as well.


What do you guys suggest for everything else?

I didnt test LOL, I gave up after I was weirded out by how the ammonia test looked, and it was like 10PM so I was done for the day.

Im gonna test when I get home for Alk and Phos. but the last test was on Wednesday Alk 8.0, and phos .061

I had a bad test kit in the past for magnesium it always tested right on point I started losing corals left and right, chased it for months to find out the mag test was bad and my magnesium had fallen into the 600s… Maybe check that?

Yeah.. I dont even have a test for magnesium. I have a few Salifert tests in my cart. I am reading around and looks like people like those.

I am going to buy the Calcium, Magnesium.

Im thinking of getting the Nitrate and PH one as well.

I didnt take any photos, but the hammer looked good. It was fluffy, and I turned off the power head on that side so it could be more low flow. Im probably going to move the duncan I bought there too as I dont think its fully extended.

The candy cane looks the same, but I do see the tentacles come out when its dark so I hope thats a good sign.

Isnt it?! I was sitting there gawking at the tank, and I saw him do this a few times. The first time, I was confused as to what was happening, then I fumbled to get the phone... finally got it! hahaha

… I kinda forgot that the skimmer hasn’t been running. lol Tbh I’m not even sure why he turned it off.

Anyways, I have turned it on. And going to do a water change today.

Change socks. Scrape the glass. I think I do have coralline algae growing. Which is good but I also have some hair algae. So gonna pull and scrub those off as well.

Scraped the tank glass. Had to move a rock that was touching the glass on the right. So did some rescaping of the right side.

both my BTAs are visible

going to LFS soon to get 15 gal of saltwater

I will switch socks after the water changes.

Also, anyone ever use Algaefix in your tanks?
I purchased some to have just in case this GHA goes postal.
