Our first loss in the tank

So our tank crawls with pods, some so big in fact that they could choke some fish and we thought we'd be ok with getting a Mandarin. This guy was one of the coolest, a ton of personality, grand-babies named him Shrek and he had been doing really well for over a month.

Shrek semed to be eating fine up until about a week ago. Started to sit in one place all the time and it didn't seem to matter what we did he wouldn't eat. No visible sign of illness, just not his peppy little self. Last night I found him half way behind my mini maxi dead. :cry: We've lost fish over the years in our freshwater tanks but for some reason this one was a little different, my heart just sunk and I still look for my little buddy every time I pass the tank. :sighs:

Sorry to hear your loss...... maybe after alittle time another one could take his place in your heart......i know mine has a ton of personality as well...he has been with me for about a year now

Sorry to hear about your fish. We've got a vlamingi tang in one of our grow tanks that wants/lets people pet it, tons of personality so I know what you mean!

It happens in this hobby unfortunately.

We miraculously lost half of our retail front after a busy day not too long ago. That was a sad day!

Sorry to hear about your loss. It's never a good feeling. My purple dotty back jumped out the other day. If only he had made it a few inches over he would have made it into my sump.

Sorry for your loss. I know the felling all to well after the loss of my favorite picasso clown a year ago.

I know what you mean.. I also had a mandarin that fell victim to a powerhead. they are really cool fishes..

Thanks all I appreciate the words. We went to the LFS yesterday to pickup some food and of course I had to go an eye the corals back in the tables which is also where the mandarins are. Didn't think anything about it until I bent down to take a closer look at a zoo and around it popped one of those bog green heads. :cry: Be awhile before I can look at those guys again I think.
