He lost his 6th leg which had been alive and moving around for about 2 weeks now. We assumed it has split to turn into a new starfish. I have included 2 photos to show what we are experiencing now. The tip of the starfish is "bubbling" and it has created a piece of itself that is now moving.

I have heard that some starfish split this way, not sure if those do or not though.

I've had brittle starfish drop a leg and it'll wiggle around for days but I don't thing those ever become a new starfish

What's your salinity?

Unlike asterina stars, linkias to my knowledge do not reproduce in this manner
