I mean I just don’t know. I can see the thought behind but not seeing the hard science

I kind of agree - why not just plant trees? Those beautiful, architectural items with their glass case, etc etc - probably cost a ton of energy...

Imagine being an LFS owner and they installed one of these out the front of your premises.
Just use it as a before and after.
LFS Owner to Customer: Look outside, that’s before. Now look at these displays, that’s after.
Customer: Ooo

I agree. Likely a ton of carbon to build them. Now as for planting trees, they say there’s not enough room. I disagree currently. Just looking at downtown Columbus. Many buildings are half vacant nowadays, start combing them and and tear down the vacant ones, now you have a open lot for planting.

I was about to reply how dumb and gimmicky it is, but I mean... you could automate the harvest of the phyto and pull way more biomass than trees in that space can add.
...but then again - you could get that much green biomass from lawn clippings on a pretty small green space, so I guess I still see it as sorta gimmicky, in the sense that it's more about thoughtfulness and message than actual biomass production.

Ignoring the energy issues because I don’t want that arguemrnt …. Because I don’t actually know how much these cost of how they are run….

But you do know that Cyanobacteria literally created earths oxygen right? They are also far better at it than trees.

Trees provide more than converting co2 to oxygen.

Habitats for animals,
Fruits/nuts harvested
Lumber
Shade
Natural beauty in an ugly urban environment

I’d rather have trees. Something magical about walking under heavy canopy full of birds singing and flying between branches

To be honest and fair, can’t say I did.

Couldn't they also just plant a tree in the urban area?

I'm down for some free phtyo on tap as I walk around the block . Daily dosing while getting a walk in haha
There it is. Can they add a spigot and let us fill up a small flask during our daily walk?
