Never knew this was a thing, LFS have 50% off some Red Sea kits... can they be trusted if out of date?

Absolutely. I have a Hanna alk reagent that’s 2 years expired yet gives the same results as the new bottle.

Ive used some 8 months and still produced good results

I'd have to say ,don't buy them out of date,jmo... :)

Get a reference and check. Cheaper than throwing out tests that are still fine and at the same time you might notice when new tests are off.

Alkalinity tests don't really go bad if you always keep the lid closed as much as possible, not sure about the others

I've never experienced a problem with an out of date test kit. Save some money when you reasonably can in this hobby!

Test a fresh batch of saltwater. Gives you a good baseline to determine if they are accurate. I have used plenty out of date kits with no problem. It's about keeping it consistent anyway not the absolute number.
