Outrageously Priced Fish

I think best one so far..

I just checked out this website because I am always looking for a new place online. This guy charges double for the fish than every place else.

That one I actually don’t think is an out of line price. Getting a black tip from the ocean to your door alive is not an easy or cheap process.

Agreed, cheapest I have found is sharkandreef.com for around $3300 each and that's IF they are in stock.

The only way that price is justifiable at all is if it includes shipping. Blacktips are a very common shark. I caught 11 of them that were all around two feet in 6 hours one fishing trip!

I wonder how we would feel if they tried to sell us. It'd be wild. "Oh hey frank, you see tom just got sold for $100 by that giraffe on ebay".

I love personification examples! They force the somewhat egocentric humanoid to contemplate the needs, desires, and feelings of more humble life forms in a delicate but truthful way. Priceless. Unfortunately, I have dropped $150. on a fish that died of acute infection (probably brought on by shipping stress) a day after the arrive alive guarantee was up. It was a painful experience all around. Sad for the dead fish, sad for the pocketbook/wallet, sad for the continuation of the species that the fish (red sea raccoon) could have helped propagate if left in the ocean.

What about all of these crazy clownfish they are putting out today. IMO most of them look like crap to me but people are paying up for them.

I think it's fare to say that each of us buys a particular fish or coral because we like the looks or oddity of it. If we REALLY like something, we're willing to spend a bit more. I'm sure someone who lives on $5000. a year (and I know people who do) think what most of us spend on our tanks each year is crazy. To each his/her or own wallet/pocketbook be true.

What does upset me is to see 30 year old guys with kids at home eating pizza again, while the dude maxes a credit card bill on such purchases... That is sad

I agree. As I posted above, to each his/her or own wallet/pocketbook be true. Addiction has many faces - does it not? We don't always recognize addition when it comes to our spending habits whether that addiction is practiced by spending excessive $ on gambling, booze, unhealthy food choices (diabetic/obese person), clothing (person obsessed by appearance), or the saltwater fish/corals "connoisseur." I totally agree with you!

On a lighter note, if the spending does no harm, and one can afford the extravagance, why not spend if it makes one happy. Wait! Oh, no! I ate pizza twice this week while my fish had gourmet fresh/frozen saltwater food mixes! I need an intervention! Quick!
