I know it's not the best location, but I don't have another choice for my house. I live in Florida, so no basement. My fish room is on the opposite end of the house to the garage and don't want tubes running down walls. So my question is, can a mixing station work outside? My plan is to:
1. Keep in indirect light, surrounded by privacy fence/hedge
2. Purchase a black or green container (or paint a white one) to minimize algae growth
3. Using for Auto Water changes, so small increments to mitigate water temperature being higher from outside temps
4. Get a weather-resistance pond pump to mix

Any other considerations? Anything that would say this won't work?

My RODI station sits on the eastern side of my house. I am on a narrow block so there is only 1.2m to my fence and another 1.0m to the next door house so it’s pretty tight. I’ve been making water in this for 2 years now and recently upsized it so I can run AWC to 2 tanks - hope to have this online in 2 months or so. I use dark green bins for storage - 240L for RO, 100L for SW (when the AWC comes online). The housing is a 3 sided unit sit next to my house - open side on the opposite side to the house. Roofed by plastic corrugated roofing - brands we have down under are Laserlite etc. Works a treat.

When running AWCs you are changing small amounts of water over a long period so I don’t think incoming water temperature is a big issue, either hot or cold.

Here’s a shot with the roof off.

Thank you for sharing! I’m glad to know it’s being done and successfully. Thanks for sharing the picture too, I really appreciate it.

I bought a large tank off of someone who kept his mixing station outside.
As Tastee mentioned using an AWC and small changes, any extreme temps didn’t bother his system.

OK thank you for weighing in I really appreciate it. Sounds like this is a workable option
