Hi, as the title suggests, I have over dosed Vibrant into my tank. My corals are visibly stressed and a couple have begun to STN. I have been doing 20% water changes every other day since the error, but I’m wondering if it’s even worth it since vibrant is more of a bacteria supplement? Should I just let it run it’s course and continue my usual 10% once per week water change schedule? Or continue trying to dilute the water every other day?

Probably stop dosing Vibrant for a couple weeks, watch your nutrients like a HAWK (they're probably dropping fairly quickly). From what I understand about bacteria, very little of it stays in the water column so only continue the water changes if you have excess nutrients in the water, otherwise you're just further starving out corals. I would assume starvation is what is causing your coral stress.

Yeah that would make sense. My nitrates are stable at 2.5 ppm but my phosphates rose from 0.03 to 0.06. But I’ll keep an eye on them for sure.

Was the OD and stn all in the same day? Seems that corals should be able to go more then a day without nutrients before they stn from it.

Might the Vibrant have cause a large drop in 02 and a pH drop?

It also has amminos from my understand I could be wrong. If it is o2 issue crank that skimmer up and skim it real wet will help.

No the OD happened a week ago. I had a huge PH drop that night but then it recovered. My SPS seemed fine atfirst but I noticed my hammer, trumpet, and bubble coral all closed up. And as the week progressed my SPS started looking pale and I’ve noticed some patches of STN. Some SPS have ok polyp extension, but in general they all look pretty bothered. My Green Slimer is basically brown, with green polyps now.

Before and after with Jeff’s help from Under Water Creations. Vibrant!!!
His addition of Fluconozol with Vibrant really really worked. About 8 weeks.
