Over flow as a fuge?

Has anyone used their return section as a fudge? Seems like a wasted space that can be put to good use. Attach a light to the glass and off we go no?? Seems like it would work. What do you guys think?

I'd be worried about plugging the drain.

Once you get the plumbing in there, it a pretty tight space and hard to get to. Not a good idea lol
