I have a 20 gallon saltwater tank its been up for 3 months ago it's too late for drill and i want to have a small 15 gallon sump ...but i am worried about the overflox box that it lose the syphon as many people said is it safe? or not? my lfs said it's very safe and good ..so what do u think guys?

What overflow are you using? I am using a CPR with an aqua lifter pump to restore flow if it looses it. I have had one power outage and I have tested it probably 20 times and it has worked flawlessly every time.

I didn't do the sump yet i was talking just with my lfs i didn't buy anything he said the overflow box is for 125$ it's very pricey.. so i wanted to know if they are safe or not...cause i don't want anything to overflow at my floor

What size is your 20g? You could get another 20g and drill it yourself and install overflow/bulkhead for cheaper than $125

I can't get another tank right now! no space for it seriously

What he means is get the 20g, drill it, plumb It and get it ready to go, then transfer all livestock sand and rock ect. Atleast that's What I would do.

You can but a 20 gal for very little money... and not have to set up a siphon, and airline to keep it active, and a pump to remove air from it etc. etc.

Not sure how much a lfs sells a 20 gallon drilled with overflow, should cost less than a $125 overflow box.

Or you can DIY, just buy a 20 gallon tank, have someone drill it, then make a overflow box. Probably cost you $50-70.

If it is setup properly, an overflow will not lose its siphon. I used one for years (shutting it off once a week for water changes) and never lost siphon.
