I have a 20L that I'm about to tie in to my sump. I was looking at ordering an overflow like the Eshopps Eclipse S, but then it dawned on me that I still have a 20" EMS overflow that I was going to use on a 75g build (till I realized the tank was tempered... a little too late). It would almost be like having an external coast to coast on a 20L. It's made to run as a bean animal, but to avoid all the extra plumbing, I'm thinking of capping one bulkhead and running it as a herbie.

Thoughts, comments, concerns...

I would save it. $180 overflow on a 20l?

Get the drill bit anyway.

Put a overflow baffle in one end of the 20L. And drop 3 holes through the bottom. 4 if running the return that way. Or on opposite end.

$180 overflow on a 20L or a $180 overflow collecting dust in the garage... Not looking to run it peninsula style as I don't like that style and I don't want to drill holes in the stand that it's on.
Using the overflow I have on hand will save me from spending money on another overflow... Not adding another tank till I can build another building to house my setup. I'm literally out of sq footage. (20L is replacing the 10 on the right)

If it was me, I would do it lol. If needed in the future, you can take it off and reuse it on another tank. I honestly cannot see a downside to using it.
