over skimming

okay so its been about a week with the skimmer on its lowest setting and so far my cheato that used to grow slowely and was a very vary pale green has grown quicker and is a dark dark green so I'm hoping this is a good sign of things to come. I did not do a water change this week but will do one with the regular reef salt come sunday

I am glad skimming dryer helped, the cheato coloring up is a very good sign. You can use the probiotic salt, it should help give your corals some nutrients. I think people are confused about the bacteria in the salt and what it does.
When did you add the ozone to your filtration?

i only used the ozone for about 7 hours i was just trying to get more water clarity but in all reality it was already crystal clear. when ever i do a water change with the pro biotic salt the skimmer does skim out a lot of gunk that day i think I'm going to still try the regular reef salt and see how it goes if something happens while using it i will switch back to the biotic

I went through the same thing. Not bleatched to that extent but bleached. I was so used to combatting an overstocked tank when I built my second home system I left no stone unturned before adding that first fish. If you are still running the biotic salt, switch to regular. I stopped carbon and gfo.. don't need either. That helped. I also lowered the light intensity. Like randy said, I'd like to shut off the skimmer for 12 hours but I need the air. I cut back my water changes to every other week. I also started adding coral foods more regularly, and amino's as well. Lastly i started dosing... yes, nitrates. Wait a month. And all seems to be great in the land of nutrients.

yeah that's what i did this is my new build is supposed to be no expense spared tank and all eye candy and the fish i want.. i used the pro biotic salt right from day one with gfo carbon and the skimmer cranked was also dosing the basic zeo additives i still fed every day just not the corals have been feeding the corals for about a month but have not noticed much change in color i did on a gold hammer and a shroom that was bad but a few other still look similar

most corals that are not faded have been fed since introduction to the tank

Doesn't look bad from here. Just that one pic of the hammer or whatever it was. But I don't see that now. Must be improving

hammer is on front left that and the 2 octos are a few original shrooms are faint and my rainbow torch on the left side looks more faint purple with light green tips it has lost its rainbow stripes

Are the corals directly under the lights more pale than the ones in the corners of the tank? The green torch looks decent and it's in the corner under less light I am assuming.

the torch is in high light and the ones that are pale are now in what I would consider the lowest light areas will test for nitrates I know last time they were 000 what would you dose or recommend for nitrates. I'm thinking at this point its not so much over skimming but the probiotic salt and what little zeo additives I did use were stripping the water to nothing.. aquaforest does say there like zeovite without the stones

What zeo products did you use?
Also what makes you think the salt led to low nutrients? That salt is made for low nutrient tanks, it adds things corals need when in a low nutrient environment.
Stump remover works fine for adding nitrates if your at zero on a good test kit that reads low range.

the biotic salt says right threw aquaforest that it lowers phos and nitrate to be skimmed out I started with a steril tank and it just stayed that way no matter how much I fed the bacteria population was so strong it just cleared it right out I used zeofood 7 biomate and zeobak
