My brother in law told me I’m over my limit on my tanks capacity but i think he is wrong/right at the same time let me know what you think!!

Let me start by telling you about my tank
30 gallon water box
10 gallon water box sump with dry rock (2-3 months old)
reef breeder lights set to come on at 11am with a gradual increase to 55 percent constant till 8pm to a gradual decrease till 9pm where it shuts off. I do not run moonlight because I’m scared of an algae breakout.
i run an Octo skimmer 24/7
tank is about 2-3 months old

corals:
pulsing Xenia
hammer
frogspawn
torch
waving Xenia
gsp
acan
Kenya trees
leather
polyps
cloves
couple others i may be missing lol

fish:
Diamond goby
flame hawk
2 blood orange clowns
adorned wrasse
mandarin goby

inverts
feather duster
cuc
1 cleaner shrimp

water parameters
magnesium 1520
calcium 420
alk 7
ph 8
amm 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 5
phosphate 0

so yes for a 30 gallon i have a lot so far. BUT i am a believer that as long as you maintain proper care for your tank and regular up keep. You can stock your tank as you would like to a certain extent depending on what you put in there and it’s personal requirements.

i do water changes every wednsday and Sunday 5 gallons each time i change my filter sick every 2-3 days and i feed 2 times a day about 11/2 cubes a day off a combination on mysis shrimp fish eggs and brine shrimp along with a few pellets In between i switch up the pellets back and forth because one has garlic and i try not to include too much garlic for the fish.

what do you guys think? do you think I’m okay or am i living in the danger zone and over stocked?

also if you have any tips I’m more than happy to listen to them!!

My opinion: I think it’s fine.

I don’t think I would add any more fish though. Beautiful tank!
Welllllllllllll i wanted a school and was thinking about 3 chromis but that’s bringing me to 9 fish lol lol i have a 180 gallon downstairs but not setting it up till we sell our house and move into our new one (about a year). Just too much work to set up the 180 and rip it down

Since the diamond goby stays on the sand and the mandarin is pretty inactive in the water column, I don’t see a problem with adding 3 chromis. As long as your filtration can handle it and there isn’t any aggression.

I’d say go for it if you really want it and if you see any problems (aggression etc) you can always catch them and return back to LFS.

I agree plus with my sump splashing water my skimmer and 2 blowers that break the surface i feel there is plenty of oxygen in the tank

Kinda like as long as I get my 10,000 steps in a day, I can eat a gallon of ice cream, a XL pizza with breadsticks and a 12pack of Mt Dew every day.

Right on dude, go buy more stuff!!

Haha. Oh no! I’m planning on having 8+ tangs for my 250 gal. Still deciding though!

From experience 3 Cromis to start with = 1 Cromis in a month. You probably need 5 to 7 Cromis.

I think that’s a bit extreme lol
Live Aquaria states chromis have a minimum tank size of 30 gallons. Not only will you keep multiple, but you also are riding on the edge with the amount of fish you currently have.
