how do you break siphon for the over the tank return? Sorry on iPhone and don't have a pic of return. Worries that it might pull water back up into tank from sump.

I drill a hole in the return pipe just below the water line so that it breaks the siphon sooner.

You could also add a check valve reversed as melev uses. I use it and I like it.

You can see the hole, and even the jet of water it's releasing, just under the surface. Ugh. I need to do some cleaning

I've never needed to do a siphon break before but couldn't someone tap and die that hole, put in a 1/4" quick connect fitting and use a 1/4" ro line to loop around and point down to the water but not in so it wouldn't get clogged as easy? May need to clean some periodic salt creep possibly ?

Like what has been done for a bean animal over flow for the open channel by many people.
