over the back intake for closed loop

so i was thinking last night at how im going to redo everything on my tank and trying to figure out exactly how to do everything i want and i go to thinking could i possibly use a 2 inch pvc basicaly and upside down u to the bottom of the tank in an easy to get to cave aith some sort of screen to prevent anything getting in it. and just plumb the return over the top and to were i want in the tank i know it wouldnt look all that great atfirst but i would hide as much as possible and once coralin grows it will look fine
 
Here are a couple pics of a tank that had a CL on it that was just like what you want to do; Note the big strainer towards the back wall, thats the CL intake:

Here is a pic of the OM 4-way that returned the CL over the back of the tank through OM Revolutions:

I would probably have the intake for the CL be located higher like it is in the pic so its easy to access, and wont be pulling detrius and such off the bottom of the tank.
 
Just remember the smaller the strainer size the more suction will be present at the strainer.
