Help. My ato unit was stuck and ran way to much kalk into my system earlier this week. Alk was Above 14, didn't even read on red sea test kit . I have been doing water changes all week trying to bring it down and it is currently at 7.8.
Ammonia 0.Ph 8. Ate/ite 0. Calcium 450. Mag 1300. Sal 1,025. My corals corals continue to bleach, retract. Don't show any signs of getting better. Am I missing something?

The damage might already be done. However, I would not go any lower than where you are for ALK. The key now is stability while they try to recover.

Not really the answer I wanted but it is the answer I expected. Really sucks

Hopefully you didn't drop the alk too fast either and shock everything. Between the od and possible sudden drop could have caused more stress. Did they start bleaching on the od is that when you realized or after you started doing water changes ?

They bleached /retracted with the od. It shouldn't have dropped too quickly, 10% water change for 3 days

Instant ocean. Should be 11 alk. In the 3rd day I did bump the calcium up

Red Sea coral pro has high content of elements and is virtually impossible to get it down enough and stabilize. Fyi

Alk is not too high at 11 as long as it stays constant! Stability is key, you can keep your Alk anywhere from 7-12 as long as it stays consistent! It's the swings that cause stress! I would have just done one 30% water change with a higher alkalinity salt as to not drastically shift the Alk then do another after a week with something a little lower to ease the shock!
