Overdosed on alkalinity on accident while trying to raise ph. What do I do? Please Help.

Hello,

I was tying to raise my ph in my reef tank and a calculation gone bad put my reef tank alkalinity at about 50.0 dkh. :/ My reef tank is 22 gallons and I have done two 50% percent water changes. I don't want to waste any more tests or salt, can someone help me with a calculation of how much water I need to change and if I even need to do that. Is it alright to leave the high alkalinity at this? My livestock seems alright.

After the water changes the parameters are:
Ph 8.2

Calcium 400
dkh 17.3
Magnesium 1185 (I know I need to raise this)

Also I have Kalkwasser that should be here soon, what do I do about that situation and the high alkalinity?

I would bring it down continuously overtime by doing a series of 20% water changes every other day until you can get it into a reasonable number. Where you are at now is very high and will kill all of your corals

WOW!That dkh is super high and unhealthy for your livestock.I would keep doing water changes at 30% every few days and TEST! after each one.Once you get it back down to your target level you can resume regular water changes.
What kind of salt are you using?Ones with higher alk will lower it slower than a low alk salt obviously.

I was hoping to not have to waste alot of salt and tests. Instant ocean salt.

wow , if you wanna bring it down fast , go get your self seachem acid buffer. Do it slowly. Yes you need to raise your magnesium.

But for your size tank, you can just do another 50% water change using a low dkh salt. Dont bother so much abt PH as long as its stable.

I will try another 50 percent water change. Hopefully brings it back down to where it needs to be. Thank you for your help.
