sounds like maybe some nitrite interference in nitrate testing, unless you did the math incorrectly.

How do you combat that? Once that happens all following testing gets hosed up.

There’s no mechanism I know of for it to jump a lot more than you dosed, except if there is some nitrite there. Wait for it to decline, or measure and see.

I think it kicked off some sort of die off so nitrates shot up over the course of a few days. Agree shouldn’t be a chemical process that does that

I'm looking to increase my nitrates. Where did you purchase food grade potassium nitrate?

Amazon! I use it in my planted tanks. But to be honest Nilocg.com or Greenleaf, same crap.
