My bad set apex code without glasses on. Thought I set dose 09:25-09:26. Actually set 09:25-09:25 so stayed on. Caught at 08:00. Tank white all doubles to 14.7. 200 gallon tank triton trigger 44 sump. Iomega 180i skimmer. Large chaeto, doing 50% water change slowly. What should I expect

If it's just a short term 1 day thing I would only immediately be concerned about the salt. I dont have an apex so I dont know what salt at 40 is. But if it's supposed to be at 35, I'd focus on that first. While doing water changes you should level out your ALK dpending what your salt mixes to. You know this tho.

I am fairly new at dosing but once you have done your water changes to level out salinity your dkh will be closer to what your salt mixes to and you can dose accordingly to bring your calcium back up. Once calcium is back up the alk should level out a bit more also. If that doesnt work then keep water changing with a salt mix that will bring it down to where you want it. You know this also tho lol

14 isn't crazy high and if it's a 1 day thing in an established tank t shouldn't kill anything but things wont be happy either.

I am kinda running into a similar issue where my salt mix was mixing at 15 and I had a spike for a few days. Nothing died but not too happy either ;)

Salinity is good. Alk went from 7.7 to 14.7. That is concern

I don’t know much, but I would suggest continuous water changes of a high volume to help regulate levels! Good luck!

Ya dont go crazy with anxiety everything will be ok with water changes in an established tank you are ok. If it's a really established tank like 3+ years you should be alright to do a %75-100 change, but I do understand that's a lot of water all at once.

This happened in my 32 cube and this is day 5 and I'm just getting my alk to 9, with a small tank they are affected by everything a little more so I didnt want to do a %100 change, as I ran into a salt mix problem and I didnt want to keep adding high alk salt. At one point mine actually got to 20...however I really dont believe it was that high as nothing died or even closed for more than a few minutes when I noticed it. So I leave that test to error.

I truly believe the water changes you are doing is your best bet. Cal is low but I dont know what you normally keep yours at. Getting that up will help but doesnt matter if your doing constant water changes until alk is closer to 7.

Not sure what salt your using but redsea blue bucket pro mixes at 7 and it might be worth getting a bucket to get you down faster.

People dont like mixing salts but if your salt is mixing at 12 you will never get your alk down below that now.

Thanks. I dosed it this am. Pic attached is close to normal and right before this happened

Ok cool so that says it mixes around 7. As long as your RODI fresh salt mix is close to 7 I say do as large a water change as possible that you feel comfortable with.

%50 is going to take you quite a few changes and I would think 1 larger change is less stress in an established system than multiple small changes over the day.

Its stressful but you got this and your tank will be ok.

Have checked numbers since the %50 change? If you are still doing the change just go for closer to %90.

If you already did the %50 change what are the numbers now? That will give us some math to look at. Like how much the %50 deducted from the 14.7 will tell us how many more we will need to do. I am so bad at math lol

Thanks my water and salt is automated by 3 pmump apex pumps. Slow but steady. I have 2 65 gallon containers (one rodi one premixed at 1.030) 3- 45 gallon rubber just rodi. So have water on hand. Just a day at home is all

Sounds like you got this under control! I just got my 65g RODI container form tractor supply lol I've been doing it the hard way for the last few years ;)

Learned 95% from these forums over last two years. Thanks again

A= mag and B= Calcium. Should be ok but obviously dose no more of it for 3-4 days until levels fall. You could add RO water if there is room to break it down a little but keep eye on salinity during process

FYI Triton 3a and 3b are alkalinity and traces

I stand corrected. Just looked at my bottles as marked. #1 is mag and #2 is CA. 3a + 3b can be mixed and are Alk
