My BTA eats silver sides pretty routinely. About twice a week. If I up it to everyday could I overfeed? Could this harm her?

I only feed mine once a week and he's massive .. I feed him 1 frozen muscle each week .. I've heard that excessive feeding can lead too them splitting .. not sure if it's true !

I give mine a pinch of lrs reef nano frenzy 3 times a week, but he is only a month old in my tank. Seems to be doing well. I feed based off of looks. If yours looks good I wouldn't feed it more. Especially if its growing.

That is too often. Anemones need time to digest the food within the gut, food sitting in the gut can cause a bacterial infection with deadly results.
Anemones in the wild are not eating monthly.

It

I over feed mine and it started multiplying. So if you want more of them go for it

same thing happened to me, had 1 BTA in July-Aug, it was placed bellow my auto feeder. Sold during christmass 30BTA, i kept 1... it already splitted in 3 since late december.

I just sold 3 of them to my LFS. They were apain to get out of my tank.

I didn't know people feed them so often. I have never fed mine directly. I just let it catch what I feed in the tank. Seems directly feeding them gets them to split, I might try it.

That's all i do now, havent feed mine in months. Getting them out of my tank is just way to much work.

I thought the same thing but could be hoarding food out of reach of other tank inhabitants I've also witnessed this behavior

Many of us do not advise silversides anymore, a lot of people have lost healthy nems from them, myself included, and there are much better and safer options, mysis really being best, raw shrimp, scallops, foods that are meant for human consumption that are handled and processed better than silversides typically are.
Really w/ good lighting you should not have to spot feed at all, light is their main source of energy, and yes, overfeeding can stress them and can induce a split.
